About Rue 20 Production

A filmmaker between two homes

Rue 20 Production takes its name from a place in Morocco where founder Faith Gourchane grew up. What began as a childhood address has become the foundation of a creative vision, connecting where she comes from with the stories she hopes to bring into the world.

Founded by Gourchane, Rue 20 Production is an independent film production company dedicated to developing bold, character-driven cinema that embraces the complexities of the human experience.

The company is guided by a belief that meaningful storytelling does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, the most powerful moments emerge from what is left unsaid, the smallest decisions, or the quiet details that change everything.

With an interest in distinctive voices, unconventional perspectives, and emotionally resonant narratives, Rue 20 Production seeks to create films that invite audiences to look closer, feel deeply, and remain with a story long after it ends.

Rooted in personal history but looking beyond borders, Rue 20 is both a home for Gourchane's own work and a growing space for creative collaboration.

Its ambition is simple: to make films that have something to say, and the courage to say it differently.

Selected Works

The Shape
of Things

On the final night of a roadside diner's existence, a woman travelling alone stops for a meal. What begins as an ordinary encounter becomes an intimate portrait of grief, unspoken truths, and the fragile moments that quietly alter the course of a life.

Poster for P.S. Agent Becky, a short film

When a young federal agent is assigned to a gruesome homicide, the case blurs the line between duty and obsession, forcing Becky to confront a darkness closer to home than she ever imagined.

Poster for Foretell, a short film

A woman’s quiet journey through memory and intuition blurs the boundary between the present and what’s yet to come.

For students who commute to college, finding a sense of belonging can be as challenging as earning a degree. Between long journeys, demanding schedules, and fleeting interactions, the traditional campus experience often feels just out of reach.

Commuters Within Community explores the quiet struggle to build meaningful connections in a place where everyone seems to be passing through. Through the voices and experiences of students, the documentary examines what it means to find community when campus is somewhere you visit, rather than somewhere you call home.

14SECONDS

As she prepares to deliver a speech for her late sister, a teenager encounters an estranged friend in a school bathroom. In the silence between them, grief, regret, and the possibility of forgiveness find their way to the surface.

The Filmmaker

Writing, directing, producing — one practice

Faith Gourchane's fascination with cinema began long before she stepped behind a camera. Growing up, she shared a love of films with her late father, watching everything from Clint Eastwood classics to stories across every genre. But for Gourchane, watching was never enough. She found herself drawn to the smallest details, studying scenes shot by shot, questioning the choices behind each frame and discovering how a single moment could transform an entire story.

That curiosity became a way of seeing the world.

Born in Morocco and based in New York, Gourchane is a writer, director, and producer whose work spans narrative and documentary filmmaking. She finds stories in the ordinary: a passing glance, an unfinished conversation, a moment of silence that reveals more than words ever could. Her approach is grounded in the belief that the smallest details often carry the greatest emotional weight.

As a filmmaker, Gourchane seeks to create immersive, emotionally layered experiences that draw audiences into the lives of her characters. Her stories embrace the complexities of human nature, allowing tenderness, tension, humour, and heartbreak to exist within the same world. She is less interested in telling audiences what to feel than in creating moments that stay with them long after the screen fades to black.

She is the founder of Rue 20 Production, an independent film production company dedicated to developing distinctive stories and fostering meaningful creative collaborations.

At the heart of her work lies a conviction that has remained unchanged since childhood: sometimes, the smallest detail changes everything.
